Is a testosterone booster a steroid? It Depends!
Testosterone Boosters have been around for many years now and there all different formulas out there with different types of ingredients.
These testosterone boosters I am talking about are either created or natural. They are either healthy or poison! And, the path is ultimately your decision.
This may sound funny but it is nothing but the truth and let me tell you more.
The types of testosterone boosters I am talking about today are real testosterone prescribed by a doctor, synthetic steroids which are very similar to prescribed medications but illegal, and natural testosterone boosting supplements (my recommendation).
I will explain them all to you and tell you which testosterone boosters are steroids and which aren’t. You will then have to decide which is right for you.
I don’t judge and believe whatever you decide you decide based on your own needs, but I do care and will tell you how to save years on your life.
Illegal Steroids and Prescription Testosterone
A steroid is a testosterone booster in its own right, but it is highly illegal. Using this type of product will get you residency in jail and leave you with long term health complications.
Prescription Testosterone is the same as a steroid but the dangers are lower because they are monitored by a physician. Along with a prescription comes frequent blood tests and safe use. But, beware, testosterone from a physician still comes with bad health risks and side effects just as illegal steroids do. The side effects are the same in both.
Steroids are all the rage with bodybuilders looking for that extra edge. They are the quickest way to huge muscle and that is what some are looking for.
The word that describes both are synthetic and they are made in a lab.
Both testosterone and illegal testosterone are used to induce muscle like puberty on speed.
Legal testosterone is used for treatment in men with low levels of testosterone from reasons of diseases or STD’s
Illegal steroids are purchased from others on the street and are considered an illegal drug deal.
These formulas will actually, slow down, or even stop the natural production of whatever levels you may have. This will hurt your natural production and could prevent it from returning. This will leave you taking these medications the rest of your life.
Yes, both will effectively increase your testosterone but they have the potential of severe side effects.
Minor Side Effects Reported Include:
- changes in skin color
- prolonged erections
- reduced size of testicles
- ejaculation problems
- shortness of breath
- chest pain
- High Levels of Calcium in Blood
- Pain in Jaw
- Shoulder Pain
- Urination Problems
- Head Ache and Anxiety
Serious Side Effects Reported Include:
- Blood clots in the lungs, legs
- Coughing up blood
- Liver Problems
- Low Sperm Count- Semen production may stop completely.
- Swelling and pain in legs
- Male Pattern Baldness
Here is my concern and the problem.
The legal users of prescription testosterone most likely have a legitimate reason for using them.
Illegal users of testosterone or steroids have completely healthy levels of testosterone but want to blow up their muscles and ignore the risks.
I know the mindset of illegal users because at the time when pro-hormones were legal, I had that mindset.
I used to take pro-hormones. For the benefit of huge muscles, I didn’t care about the risks. This led to my low testosterone problem and it still is a problem for me today.
Pro-Hormones were supplements legal at the time and they were considered the next best thing to a steroid. I was testing my testosterone at the time and me levels were normal at 20 years old.
Pro-hormones actually almost tripled my testosterone levels. Here is the problem, they shut down my body’s ability to produce natural testosterone thinking it was producing enough. It took me 18 years before I realized this and after starting on a natural supplement I was able to perform and my wife got pregnant.
On a side note this is what Mark McGuire was banned for in baseball.
Please don’t be fooled by a doctors script. Just because a doctor prescribes it doesn’t mean it doesn’t come with the same risks as illegal steroid do. Doctors weigh the risks but they don’t always take into consideration your personal motives.
I had a good trainer friend that used steroids and died in his 30’s. He was a personal trainer and his huge muscle was a motivator. I considered it myself.
Here is the link….He was a great person, but just so infatuated with hug muscles, he ignored the risks.
I would say if you are thinking about a steroid or a prescription, use them as a last resort.
There are other options way better for your health and for the longevity of your life.
Natural Testosterone Boosting Supplements
Is Testosterone Booster as steroid? Not if it is a natural testosterone boosting supplement purchased over the counter.
Definition of Natural- Existing or caused by nature; Not made or caused by mankind.
When you put this definition together with a testosterone supplement you get a natural testosterone booster with a low risk of side effects and damage to your natural testosterone producing hormones in your body.

I hope now you can understand and fully answer this question yourself.
A natural testosterone boosting supplement should be your first step in trying to increase your testosterone levels.
Unless you have specific needs as explained above, I would recommend, for a healthier way to a natural increase in testosterone levels, you steer clear of prescription testosterone and illegal steroids.
